About the Session
Photographer Danny Cardwell of Chromatic Expressions leads an introductory hour on how photographs and films are actually made — exposure, light, and composition — using classic Westerns as the classroom and the phone in your pocket as the camera.
Cameras have changed enormously over the last sixty years, but the principles behind a good image have not. The directors, producers, and cinematographers who made the spaghetti Westerns worked with heavy equipment, limited film stock, and no ability to fix anything later — and they still produced frames that hold up beside anything being shot today. This session uses those classic films as a teaching tool, then connects those exact same decisions to the camera most of us already carry.
The session includes hands-on practice with still-life subjects in the room. Bring your phone. Bring a camera if you own one. No experience necessary. All are welcome.

About the Presenter
Danny Cardwell is the owner and lead photographer of Chromatic Expressions, based in Hot Springs, Virginia, which he operates alongside his wife, Renee. Their joint portfolio covers corporate events, weddings, portraits, real estate, and family sessions, with regular assignments at The Omni Homestead and other premier properties across the region. Danny also serves as Station Coordinator and Social Media Manager for Allegheny Mountain Radio, and remains deeply active in Bath County community initiatives.
