An evening that showcases the icons of American piano music: John Adams’ Hallelujah Junction is a masterclass in American minimalism, and Amy Beach’s Suite on old Irish melodies is a masterpiece in virtuosity. Robert Schumann’s deeply elegiac Andante and Variations and Tchaikovsky’s blockbuster 4th Symphony round off the delightful concert.
